The Department of History, Philosophy, and Social Sciences at Pittsburg State University invites applications for a tenure earning, Assistant Professor in Social Work beginning August, 2013. Applicants should have an earned doctorate or be ABD, possess the MSW, and hold or be eligible for Kansas licensure. Preference will be given to applicants with university level teaching experience, a willingness to engage in internet teaching at the university level and substantive social work experience. The normal teaching load is four classes (12 hours) a semester and will include courses in the following areas: social welfare policy, social work practice and human behavior theory. The selected candidate will also have the opportunity to develop relevant social work elective courses that he/she can teach. Demonstrated potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising along with an active research agenda are required for the position. The salary is from a base of $45,000, academic year.
