ATLANTA, Ga. -- After a Friday night filled with surprises, this weeks Metro Atlanta Super 25 poll displays changes from top to bottom. The top spot has changed hands for the third time in 5 weeks.

Parkview's upset win over Grayson sent shock waves through the rankings. Meanwhile, on the other side of Gwinnett, Norcross beat North Gwinnett clearing the way for the Blule Devils to take over the top spot.

In the rundown, North Gwinnett is second, Grayson third, with Parkview and MLK completes the Top 5. Sandy Creek is sixth, while Lassiter, Tucker, Brookwood and West Forsyth make up this week's top 10.

HarperCollins reaches deal to lower e-book prices

NEW YORK (AP) ? A new and uncertain era of e-book prices has begun.

HarperCollins Publishers announced Tuesday that it has reached new price agreements with sellers that conform to a settlement with the Justice Department over allegations that five publishers and Apple colluded to set prices for e-books. Such new works as Michael Chabon's "Telegraph Avenue" now can be purchased on Amazon.com for $9.99, a price publishers and rival booksellers fear will give Amazon dominant control of the e-market.

Simon & Schuster and Hachette Book Group also settled, but as of Tuesday afternoon e-prices for such fall books from those publishers as Bob Woodward's "The Price of Politics" and Tom Wolfe's "Back to Blood" were selling for $14.99. A spokesman for Simon & Schuster declined comment, while Hachette issued a statement saying it was "engaged in productive discussions with e-book distribution agents."

Apple and two other publishers, Penguin Group (USA) and Macmillan, declined to settle and a trial is expected next June.

The settlement was announced in April, when the Justice Department filed suit, and was approved last week by a federal judge in New York. The legal action stems from agreements reached between major publishers and Apple in 2010 that allowed publishers to set their own prices for e-books, an effort to counter Amazon's deep discounts of best sellers. Over the past two years, Amazon's e-share is widely believed to have dropped from around 90 percent to around 60 percent, with Barnes & Noble.com's rising to 25 percent.

E-books are believed to comprise around 25-30 percent of total sales, exponentially higher than four to five years ago. But growth has slowed over the past year, and reasons cited vary from the higher prices charged under the Apple agreements to a general maturation of the e-market, with the most avid e-book readers already accounted for.

With no definitive resolution expected soon, publishers and booksellers face a complicated time of possible price wars or periods when books may become unavailable during the busy fall season, depending how quickly new agreements are signed. Barnes & Noble.com and other online retailers may feel pressure to cut their prices as deeply as Amazon.com. And Random House Inc., which agreed to a similar sales model as HarperCollins and others but is not involved in the legal action, may find itself charging several dollars more for popular e-books than its competitors charge

Prices for new HarperCollins books differed from seller to seller as of Tuesday afternoon. Chabon's "Telegraph Avenue" cost $12.59 on Barnes & Noble's Nook and $9.99 on Apple's iBookstore. Molly Ringwald's "When It Happens to You" was $9.74 on Amazon, $12.99 on Barnes & Noble and $9.99 on Apple.

MINYANVILLE ORIGINAL Many stocks will reach their ex-dividend date next Monday, which is significant for investors as the seller of the stock on that date, not the buyer, receives the most recent dividend.

A stock must be bought one day before the ex-dividend date to claim any dividends that have been announced but not yet paid. Dividends are paid on the dividend record date, usually two business days after the ex-dividend date.

Purchasers must own a stock several days prior to the dividend record date to get the dividend. Those purchasing right before the date forfeit the dividend and normally get the stock for a reduced amount.

It may seem an anachronism in this era of high frequency trading, but the dividend rate rules are in effect since it can still take up to three business days for transactions to be credited to and settled in an investor?s account. (See also: 10 Undervalued Dividend-Paying Stocks With Momentum.)

Below are stocks that schedule September 10 as their ex-dividend date. All annual yields are estimated.

Ameren Corp. (AEE) yields 4.82% annually and has a market cap of $8.05 billion. The parent company of Missouri?s biggest electric provider and Illinois?s third biggest natural gas provider will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.40 on September 28. Its quarterly yield will be 1.21% based on yesterday?s closing price of $33.19. The company has been paying a quarterly dividend since 1998.

Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) yields 3.07% annually and has a market cap of $34.76 billion. The global technology and software company will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.132 on October 3. Its quarterly yield will be 0.75% based on last Friday?s closing price of $17.59. The company began paying a semi-annual dividend in 1965 and switched to a quarterly dividend in 1978.

Public Storage (PSA) yields 2.98% annually. The self-storage facility operator has a market cap of $25.30 billion and will pay a quarterly dividend of $1.10 on September 27. Its quarterly yield will be 0.75% based on last Friday?s closing price of $147.48. The company has paid a quarterly dividend since 1988.

PS Business Parks (PSB) yields 2.51% annually and has a market cap of $1.70 billion. The commercial real estate company will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.44 on September 27. This dividend results in a quarterly yield of 0.63% based on yesterday?s closing price of $70.01. The company has been paying a quarterly dividend since the middle of 1995.

Texas Roadhouse (TXRH) yields 2.01% annually and has a market cap of $1.26 billion. The steak restaurant chain will pay a quarterly dividend of $0.09 on September 28. Its quarterly yield will be 0.50% based on yesterday?s closing price of $17.92. The company began paying a quarterly dividend in 2011.

Apple: We didn't pass iPhone, iPad device IDs to FBI

Apple has said that it did not give the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation any device identity codes of its iPhone and iPad users.

Hackers associated with Anonymous claimed this week to have stolen more than 12 million device identifers from an FBI-owned laptop.?Just over one million unique device identifier (UDID) codes were released on Monday in a Pastebin post.

The FBI said in an earlier statement that there was?"no evidence" to suggest the data had been pilfered from one of their agents' computers, leading to further speculation and guessing as to where the device codes had actually come from.

Among other rumors surrounding the sudden and unexpected event, some suggested Apple had given or been forced to hand over the codes. But today, the Cupertino, CA.-based technology giant sent a statement to AllThingsD?refuting such claims.

The FBI has not requested this information from Apple, nor have we provided it to the FBI or any organization. Additionally, with iOS 6 we introduced a new set of APIs meant to replace the use of the UDID and will soon be banning the use of UDID.

Earlier this year, Apple began nudging application developers away from UDIDs saying it would introduce a replacement to the system in form of new application interfaces.

According to New Zealand security consultant Aldo Cortesi, many iPhone and iPad-based applications regularly send device UDIDs to servers on the internet over insecure communication channels.

iOS 6 is due out in the coming weeks, pegged for a "fall" release. The iPhone 5 is expected to be announced on September 12 with a launch date a week later. It's expected that the iPhone 5 will ship with iOS 6 pre-installed which will ban UDIDs.

But nobody at this point knows where the UDIDs came from: Apple and the FBI certainly don't know, but one would bet any money that they'll find out sooner rather than later.

Ryan says he misstated marathon claim

Republican Paul Ryan now says he didn't run a marathon in less than three hours as he claimed in a nationally broadcast interview.

The vice presidential hopeful acknowledged Saturday he had misstated his marathon time by more than an hour. He released a statement correcting the record after Runner's World magazine found evidence he had completed one marathon and finished in just over four hours.

Ryan told radio host Hugh Hewitt last month he had run a "two hour and fifty-something" marathon. That's a pace of less than 7 minutes per mile for the 26.2 mile course ? extremely fast for recreational runners.

Ryan said he should have rounded his marathon time to four hours, not three.

Philippines, Mexico ink pact to boost trade

MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - The Philippines and Mexico today signed an agreement that is expected to improve trade between the two countries.

Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon and Mexican General Administrator Gerardo Perdomo inked the Agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance on Customs Matters in a ceremony in Manila.

"The agreement practically tightened the customs operational procedures between the Philippines and Mexico. This would eventually translate in more efficient revenue collection for all trade between the two countries," said Biazon.

The pact is also expected to enable the two countries to better address the problem on smuggling.
